Something TV Offers Stellar Sports In The UK With Eurosport
The Eurosport brand is synonymous with live events, airing over 3000 hours of live footage per year including the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Since its creation in 1989, Eurosport has evolved to its position as ‘number 1 pan-European TV channel’ for 12 years running (EMS annual survey) and has also been confirmed as Europe’s ‘number 1 sports brand online’ by leading digital measurement index, comScore.
Eurosport 2, the ‘new generation sports channel’, provides a combination of sport and entertainment and is aimed at a young and dynamic audience. With 75% of its programming unique to the channel, Eurosport 2 covers a mix of team sports such as volleyball, handball, basketball and rugby, along with new, alternative and extreme sporting action. Eurosport 2 offers over 2200 hours of live and first broadcast events per year.
Together, British Eurosport and Eurosport 2 offer coverage of more than 120 different sports with live coverage of the Tour de France, World Superbikes, three tennis Grand Slams and a wide range of motorsports.
Something TV comments: “No TV service would be complete without a dedicated sports package and no sports package would be complete without Eurosport. The Eurosport channels are an essential acquisition for any broadcast provider and we look forward to a long and mutually fruitful relationship, whilst giving our viewers access to the world’s greatest sporting events.”
Dave Kerr, Director of British Eurosport says: “2009 is an exciting year for British Eurosport, with Andy Murray in the tennis Grand Slams, 5 Brits in World Superbikes and Mark Cavendish in the Tour De France, to mention just a few of the events we will be broadcasting. We are always looking at ways of broadening our reach and bringing new viewers to the channel, so to have both British Eurosport and Eurosport 2 in the sports package on Something TV is a positive step forward for us in the UK.”
The Something TV service is broadcast on the Global Digital Broadcast (GDBTV) platform, which also plays host to a number of other international IPTV network services, including IPQube, SuncasTV and Via America.
