Guitarist TV Secures Placement in Top 48 Channel Global Delivery Deal

Guitarist TV has secured a place, alongside 47 other channels, to be delivered worldwide via the recent partnership between Global Digital Broadcast (GDBTV) and Verismo Networks.

Guitarist TV (G-TV) is the world’s first premier broadband and multi-genre guitarist channel. The channel is founded by professional South African guitarist Mike de Jager, who is sponsored by Marshall Amps (UK) and Moser Custom Guitars (USA) and has played with numerous artists including, Dennis Stratton (Iron Maiden 1979/1980); Simon Lees (Budgie); Brian Tatler (Diamond Head); Simon Bradley (Guitarist Mag.); Tim Manford (Dante Fox); and Paul May (Temple Dogs / V-Rats). The channel was originally launched online in 2006 by guitar legend Joe Satriani.

Guitarist TV’s channel offering includes: broadcast of live concerts; guitar workshops, seminars, educational programmes and fun guitar weekends for beginners to advanced; promotion and PR for both major record companies and unsigned artists; G-TV radio; a G-TV magazine; hot-off-the-press news and reviews; celebrity guests; and even guitar orientated travel programmes.
The partnership furthers Guitarist TV’s existing reach to the UK, whilst extending Verismo Network’s offerings into the UK and Europe. Under the agreement, GDB secures exclusive rights to provide its IPTV channels via the VuNow service, to the UK, at launch this September 2009.

Currently only available in the USA, the VuNow service enhances TV entertainment by giving consumers the ability to access and enjoy internet video directly on their TV, without a computer.

Guitarist TV joins the current features of the Vunow service, such as access to YoutubeTM and other popular websites (MSN, National Geographic, CNN Video, ABC News and many more); Personal Media, which, allows the sharing of photos, music and video with family and friends, via the TV; Video Search (powered by Vtap), which, allows the consumer to search from thousands of online video sites (Vunow supports more than 1000 video sites) and Movies & TV, which, places movies and TV episodes from Hollywood to Bollywood, as well as foreign films, classics, documentaries, TV series, independent features, special-interest titles, educational and instructional videos, and much more, at the fingertips of the consumer.

Guitarist TV is currently broadcast on the Global Digital Broadcast (GDBTV) platform and is available online around the world, via the Guitaristtv.com website and GDBTV’s Go UK TV portal; and on television sets via the Something TV service in the United Kingdom, the IPQube service in Canada and the SuncasTV service in the USA.
